Food Is Medicine
Lifelong’s Food & Nutrition program, Chicken Soup Brigade, delivers healthy, home-cooked meals and nutritious groceries right to your door. Meals are made on-site, from scratch, using whole food ingredients. We support people’s overall health by focusing on the importance of nutrition as part of someone’s care. Food and nutrition can reduce the symptoms and daily impact of many illnesses, minimize medication side effects, and provide comfort when it is needed most.
Food & Nutrition Programs
about our program
We prepare and deliver medically tailored meals and groceries to low-income and underserved people in King, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties. Our goal is to increase food security among our most vulnerable neighbors and support the long-term health of individuals who are disproportionately impacted by nutrition-related diseases. Our home delivery model brings meals or groceries to the people we serve and reduces the transportation barriers many people face in accessing nutritious food resources.
Need Food Assistance?
We have a variety of ways to help depending on where you live and other criteria.
-
Nutrition supports including medically tailored meals, fruit and vegetable provisions, pantry stocking groceries, and nutrition education and counseling may be available for community members who are enrolled in Apple Health (Medicaid), experiencing food insecurity, and living with a chronic health condition.
You can submit a form for yourself or on behalf of someone else.
To receive support from Lifelong, make sure “Lifelong” is selected under “Name of Organization making the referral”.
After your form is submitted, a representative from an organization called HealthierHere will contact you to discuss your situation and connect you with available resources. They may use the term “Health Related Social Needs” to describe the supports available, which include meals, produce, shelf stable food, and nutrition services. After HealthierHere confirms your eligibility, a member of our team will contact you to enroll you in services.
