Our Mission

Lifelong is a community health organization on a mission to make health and food accessible. We remove barriers to health with relentless compassion so that no one faces illness and injustice alone.

Our work

We stand up for communities facing illness and injustice.

Everyone deserves the chance to live their healthiest life, but that vision is out of reach for far too many people. For more than 40 years, Lifelong has fought for marginalized communities with relentless compassion—because no one should have to battle stigma, judgment, or the devastating effects of illness alone. Our wraparound care model supports the whole person by breaking down barriers and improving access to quality care, lifesaving medicines, nutritious food, stable housing, and vital health resources. Our community support network fills the gaps in broken systems and ensures that everyone has an equitable opportunity to thrive.

Our Legacy & history

Our work began over 40 years ago, fighting for those living with HIV and helping them access the medicine, care, housing, and food they needed. Today, we continue that fight and we use that experience to help others as we work to make health and food accessible to all.

In the 1980s, elected officials and other local and national leaders displayed unspeakable cruelty and bigotry when they refused to support the services and research needed to combat the early surge of the HIV epidemic. A handful of volunteers witnessed their friends, partners, and neighbors neglected and left to die.

They were compelled to fight back and mobilized the community
to unite against injustice.

They made a lifesaving difference in the lives of thousands through an assembly of chore wheels, hospital visitation calendars, and the establishment of new non-profit organizations. These community members helped create us, the Northwest AIDS Foundation, the Chicken Soup Brigade, and Evergreen Wellness Advocates, which merged to become Lifelong.
